Peter Kovacs, Director of Boston Ballroom®, originally from Debrecen, Hungary, trained at the prestigious Valcer Táncstudió under the direction of Csaba Bíró. By the time Peter was 17, he won several IDSF organized Latin and Standard competitions and was performing in Hungary, Austria, Germany and Romania,
in 1999, Mr. Kovacs was invited to join the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Boston, MA. Peter holds a B.A. in Pedagogy and in Mathematics from Ferenc Kolcsey Presbyterian Pedagogical Institute in Debrecen, Hungary.
Mr. Kovacs, as a recognized dance choreographer and dance educator, has been featured in dance films, documentaries, and teaching videos for Latin, Ballroom, Rhythm and Smooth. Mr. Kovacs was a recipient of a Mass Cultural Council Grant for his dedication to the art of dance in the Boston area community.

Marisa Panos Kovacs, a choreographer and dance educator, was born and raised in Newton, MA. She received her dance training at the Boston Ballet School, under the direction of E. Virginia Williams, Sydney Leonard, Violette Verdy, Bruce Marks, and Anne-Marie Holmes. Marisa performed for over a decade with Boston Ballet at the Wang Theatre such ballet classics as The Nutcracker, Midsummer Night Dream, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, La Bayadere and Coppélia ballets. She went on to professionally dance with Milwaukee Ballet, The Kennedy Dancers, International Dance Project, Ballet Theatre of Boston, and Boston Dance Company.
As an amateur Ballroom and Latin dancer she competed in all four styles of Latin, Ballroom, Rhythm and Smooth Dancesport - winning Open Gold Latin at the prestigious Ohio Star Ball DanceSport Competition. Marisa is one of a few top dancers who have had a professional ballet and ballroom career simultaneously as documented in Dancer Magazine in January of 2008 (see below). She was the recipient of a National Endowment of Arts scholarship as well as a Mass Cultural Council Grant for her dedication to the art of dance in the Boston area community.
Peter and Marisa Kovacs, owners of Boston Ballroom®, bring a wealth of experience as Northeast Professional Latin American competition finalists, showcasing their talents in competitions across the United States. With nearly two decades of dancing together, these seasoned Boston Ballroom® ambassadors have positively impacted students throughout the tri-state area, spreading the love and joy of dance to even those who may believe they have two left feet.
As master dance instructors and professors, they have been on the Faculty of Emmanuel College, Harvard A.R.T program, Boston Ballet School-Children's Summer Program, Dance Teachers Club of Boston, MIT Ballroom Dance Classes, Brandeis Ballroom Dance Club and the Skating Club of Boston.
They have taken the joy of Ballroom dancing and Latin dancing to many local programs and communities such as Eat Right America, Newton Community Pride, Newton Festival of the Arts, Lululemon, Bright Pearl Dance Academy, and FHI360.org - the science of improving lives - a Vietnam Dance Exchange Program.
Peter and Marisa are dance adjudicators for several collegiate ballroom competitions at Harvard, Tufts, Northeastern, Boston University, WPI, and UCONN.
Enriching the lives of their students through dance, they teach a wide range of students from children to adults, beginners in social dance to advanced DanceSport competitors.
Peter and Marisa believe there's no greater satisfaction than witnessing the joy and smiles on their students' faces as their dance confidence grows and their aspirations in dance become a reality.
